Welcome to Fancy Pets-The inside story.
| We wear many hats in the grooming business! We are your pet's (and Your) best
friend, whether he/she is a *little angel* or *little devil*. We are
babysitters, trainers, disciplanarians, hairdressers and sometimes confidants.
(lol, only your hairdresser know for sure, and the doggy hairdresser, too!) We
can take a difficult situation (burrs, tar, matts, or skunking etc.) and handle
it in your pet's best interest. We know your pet well enough to recognize
changes in their coats or behavior which may point to an impending medical
problem. We love our chosen
career!
Wander around...we feature many things, a
Photo Gallery
to look at and post pics of your pets, Tutorials, Training Tips, behavior issues and a great place to shop
for all your pet's needs including flea control products such as
Advantage and Frontline, medications,
The articles here are researched and written mostly by me, with links to other related
professionals provided whenever I come across them. The material is from my 17
years grooming experience, 20+ years of studying and applying behavioralism, 40
years of owning and training pets, and from working for and with vets. I learn a lot from Animal
Planet. (they have some interesting shows with topics which make you
think) Feel free to
share your own experiences or ask questions on the message board read or ask
questions in the faq's or participate in our polls!
Read our articles and
product reviews, consider joining up if you'd
like to share your experiences either on the message board and
maybe posting articles of interest on the front
page under your own by-line or your own reviews and links.
We'd love to have you..

 | | Ok all.. This is VERY serious!! I found out that if your animal (any kind) eats on cardboard boxes of any kind, they will not only make a mess, but will be constipated!!

 | | If puppy has
accident, clean it up thoroughly. There is NO POINT in rubbing his nose in
it!!!
If you find a
mess in the house after it has sat there even for a few minutes, do not scold.
He will not remember what he did. His look may be guilty and humble, but that
is because he's picking up his cue from you. "I did something bad, what it is I
do not know..."

 | | You bring your pet into be groomed, suddenly two huge brown eyes are boring
into you, brimming with love. A small whimper escapes, causing you to choke
back tears. As you go to hand little *insert dog's name here* over to us,
he/she gasps, gripping your neck with little paws.
Yes, you've been here many times before, but suddenly *insert
dog's name here* does not want to go. You hug your pet tighter, tears running
down your face, and decide not to have the grooming done. *insert dog's name
here* must have been beaten, or gotten scared suddenly.
NOT!
We've seen this many times before and have nicknamed it *The
Academy Award Doggie Dying Sceen*

 | | When you walk into the grooming shop, your pet starts whining
and trembling. Maybe they've been there 20 times, yet they act like they will
be beaten.
Have they been?
NO!
One of the most common reasons is anticipation.

 | | I had a problem with my cat Todd years ago. He developed bladder stones and chronic urinary tract infections.
He seldom drank water. His urine was thick and the Vet would urge me to encourage him to drink more.
